Zine: Short for magazine i.e a short magazine, usually self published or printed on a photocopier.
Come get into some casual visual storytelling with us!
It all started with a couple scribbled haikus and some sun bleached polaroids down in the baja desert, then a cigar box full of those photos got mailed back and forth across the country. A just for fun competition dreamed up in the back of a van, one summers eve, coupled with a longing for a community I would soon know, mixed in with another road trip or two. Add in some impromptu rain soaked winter time dinners, a dream to inspire friends to share their creativity in ways they typically never do. Top that with weeks of back an forth with multiple print shops, city wide hunts for the right paper, a story of an epic drunken night in Sweden with a crazy Russian, a last minute assembly of friends new and old and finally the first ever zine night was born on a still feels like winter, spring evening.
And now we want it to happen again!
April 29th at Hold General, the second edition of zine night will be taking place and we want you to come join us. Bring a story and turn it into your very own zine. It can be about anything from the photos from that amazing trip to Asia you’ve been meaning to do something with, to poetry or prose, a children's story, a college of your favourite cat photos, a colouring book for your BFF of hand drawn selfies (ok I'm getting carried away) really it can be anything you deem worthy of sharing with some of the most kind and inspiring humans this side of the 49th parallel.
Bring yourself, some stories to tell. Crafting supplies of your liking
